This is my second Destination rod, and it is wonderful. I travel for steelhead, and the ability to fit a spey rod into a 36″ travel rod case is a real air-travel advantage. As for the rod: it is light in hand, powerful, and super-smooth. Friends that have cast it are amazed when I tell them it is a six piece rod. I use it with a Equalizer MT (679gr) or an Equalizer 9/10 54ft (585 gr). Yeah, that is a pretty wide grain window, but it casts both lines beautifully – nice tight loops, with the ability to reach out 100ft or more.
November 11, 2019Gaelforce continues to make the best two handed rods on the market, the 12.9 model is a superb rod, extremely powerful whilst remaining light in the hand the ,destination series are versatile with all line systems. I am a return customer because Gaelforce backs all of their products with great customer service and communication no problem or question too big for James. JP
March 10, 2019Yesterday René, Frank und me tested the Destination…what can I say…marvellous!! So light for a 6 pieces rod, nice looking and high grade components. We tested the rod with ESH #8 and #9. Furthermore EMT #8/9. Our opinion was that the rod works perfect and with fun with the ESH #9 (with heavy tubes too). The #9 produce perfect loops. Length and weight ist perfect harmonised with the rod. We don’t feel the weight of 34 grams of the line, no it feels like 29 grams! All of us three conform that we never cast a rod likes this where it was not necessary to cast a lot with different lines to get the feeling for the rod…no, with the first cast the feeling was present. The backbone is great…perfect to handle big fishes! How can I recapitule the rod? We all three are extremely enthusiastic!
