Bought this rod to use as on small to medium rivers where a variety of casts are needed. Overhead with light lines around 22g was fantastic, as was Spey casting shooting heads around 27g or the ESSS 7/8.. Great addition to my armoury and 6 piece is perfect for travelling. Would highly recommend it.
September 23, 2021What a fantastic rod, paired with Gaelforce ESSS switch #8/9 fly line. I use this rod mainly in rivers, fishing smaller salmon, seatrout etc. But it was only rod, which i took with me, when i made a holiday trip to a U.S.A. During that trip i fish in Cape Cod ( striper bass ) and Key West ( saltwater fly fishing ) and rod and line works suberbly. It was so easy and light to cast quite big flies to a wind when overhead casting. And it was fantastic to use when underhand casting smaller flies in bad conditions. It is relatively light, easy to cast and powerful rod.
December 20, 2019Any one looking for a medium to small river rod for rivers such as the Slaney, the Owenmore or the Erriff in Ireland should not go past the Gaelforce Destination 11ft 9′ 8/9. Make no mistake this rod is not a switch rod it is a genuine double hand rod powerful enough to subdue any large spring fish as I have done but also light enough to cast single handed if necessary and deliver size 16 flies in times of low water. This rod is a pleasure to use and I would unreservedly recommend it.
