A GAELFORCE swept through the GGACC ponds in Sanfranciscos Golden Gate Park on Sunday 24.04.2016 and left two Historic Irish Champions in it's wake as it moved on past.
Congratulations to Gerard Downey from Foxford four times SOR winner with both 2016 open Spey O Rama and Knut Syrstad longest cast trophies
History was created at the 2016 Jimmy Green Spey O Rama World Championships of Speycasting, Gerard Downey of Foxford Ireland and Martin Kiely of Limerick Ireland became World Champions in both the open event and the seniors event with both casters recording the highest ever final scores in the history of the event using GAELFORCE Equalizer EED 80 lines!! A remarkable achievement Congratulations to you.
GAELFORCE Flyfishing would like to congratulate everyone who had the conviction and confidence to use it's products over the course of the weekend, for this I am eternally grateful for your support. Reaching the top ten in the finals is a huge achievement at Spey O Rama, eight out of the top ten who reached the finals used the Equalizer EED80 Comp line which is a remarkable endorsement for the product keeping its place as the No1 Distance casting line in the World. The conditions for the open final were very tricky indeed with some really difficult blustery and changeable wind direction making you think very quickly during your 12 cast 6 minute duration, this made it such a spectacular final. A special mention to the GAELFORCE EED 80 line users in the open final Gerard Downey, Tommy Aarkvisla, Travis Johnson,Zack Williams, Geir Hansen, Tim Arsenault, James Chalmers, Doug Duncan you took part in what can only be described as the best Speycasting display ever to be witnessed in the history of this event, for this you can be very proud for making such a contribution.
Martin Kiely of Limerick Ireland also created a piece of history winning the seniors division with the longest ever recorded score and longest cast using the EED 80 Comp line.
Congratulations to Martin Kiely from Limerick with both 2016 seniors Spey O Rama and Knut Syrstad longest cast trophies
The moment Michael O'Kane knew his good friend and fellow countryman Martin Had taken gold.
A packed audience witnessed a breathtaking display, the best ever to be produced at a Spey O Rama Final.
Four times Spey O Rama winner Gerard Downey using the Equalizer 12# rod & Equalizer EED80 line, casting himself into the realms of history.
It was an absolute privelege to witness the youngest competitor, Irelands Michael O'Kane (right) take to the centre ponds for his first visit to Spey O Rama.
The very proud moment I knew that the best caster the world has ever seen had created History.
Brothers for life "The Moy Cowboy" on the left looks familiar
A proud moment indeed for me to see the success and Historic achievements of GAELFORCE Flyfishing in such a short time.
All of the above photos are courtesy of Val Atkinson, George Nitikin and Dmitry Koechev, thank you very much for capturing the moment.
Already looking forward to 2017.

Bravo!, to you and the Gaelforce Team. I'll not forget Gerard's round in The Final's. Really something to see, particularly in those conditions. Great casting from yourself, as well. I can't wait to see Michael's casting next year, (touch wood). He shows tremendous promise. I'm hearing more competitor's will be going to the Gaelforce line. No surprise. Be well. Ed
