GAELFORCE Rods and Equalizer EED80 Lines take Gold in the Mens, Seniors and Ladies Spey O Rama competition creating a piece of history at the Hallowed ponds of the GGACC in SanFrancisco 22nd April 2018.

Five times winner Gerard Downey,(Ireland) two times winner Martin Kiely,(Ireland) and six times winner Whitney Gould (USA) stand proudly with the Jimmy Green Spey O Rama winners trophies and the prestigious Knut Syrstad memorial longest cast trophies.

GAELFORCE Flyfishing had a history making and had a hugely successful Spey O Rama 2018 with the launch and instant success of the new "Weapon" and "Altitude" competition rods taking 1st place in both men's and seniors, combined with the Equalizer EED80 competition line taking 1st in Ladies men's and seniors further cementing its reputation as the no1 distance casting line in the World today. I observed with great pride the competitors using the GAELFORCE equipment making personal bests or graduating into the finals, it was very humbling indeed to see a product which you have worked so hard with bringing to the market, bearing fruit and producing some spectacular results in the most competitive situation which is SOR. I watched with great interest during practice the testing of other equipment by competitors particularly new lines, only to see them purchase new or fall back on their trusted Equalizer EED80 lines which produced the results for them to progress to finals and achieve much greater scores, very humbling indeed.

Travis Johnson 3rd place,James Chalmers,Gerard Downey and Martin Kiely savoring a very special moment at SOR 2018 where Gerard Downey created history with

his fifth Victory and Martin Kiely his second, with both competitors lifting the prestigious Knut Syrstad Memorial Longest cast trophies.

Spey O Rama 2018 had the highest registration and participation to date with a record number of entries cementing its reputation as

the World Championships of Speycasting with the highest degree of multi casting disciplines and difficulty.

Qualifying took place all of Saturday 21st April in the men's due to the high number of entries, reducing to the top 10 for the finals on Sunday.

A magnificent display in the seniors saw Martin Kiely win his second Spey O Rama Martin Kiely SOR 2018 Winning cast.

The order of casting is determined by the dreaded lollipop stick draw, usually the most nerve wracking part of the competition.

The mens finals were warm, flat calm with dead air and produced some fantastic casting as Travis Johnson showed below with a big one.
